Interactive Software Services Ltd. : ClosureInteractive Software Services Ltd ("I.S.S.") will cease trading on 31st October 2024. We would like to thank everyone for your custom, over the years. I.S.S. has served the Fortran community as a commercial GUI toolset supplier for 36 years, but the time has come to move on. The commercial Fortran marketplace has seen an inexorable contraction in recent years. Notable compiler vendors such as Absoft and Lahey have left the market. Intel have moved to free of charge compilers via their oneAPI toolset. GNU's gfortran has grown in popularity and NVIDIA offer their compiler free of charge on Linux. For good or bad, the Fortran world has predominantly shifted towards non-commercial tools. In this context, the difficult decision has been made to close I.S.S. DownloadsCustomers with Winteracter v10.0-16.0 licences are encouraged to download the most recent update for their licensed release. Updates will remain available here for the time being. However, they will be withdrawn within three months following closure. The available versions are summarised below:
Updates can be downloaded from the page specified in your original licence email. Post-closure Winteracter AvailabilityAfter the I.S.S. closure, a slightly revised version of Winteracter will be made available to anyone who holds an up-to-date (v16.0) licence, via a new site. This version will be offered on a strictly non-commercial basis, i.e. Winteracter will no longer be a retail product. It will be updated occasionally, to maintain compatibility with new compiler or operating system releases and (where possible) to fix bugs. Old versions will not be available on the new site, so it is important to download the most recent update (see above) or purchase a 16.0 licence/upgrade before I.S.S. closes. Further details of Winteracter availability going forward will be published shortly before we close. Ordering 16.0 licencesVersion 16.0 licences or upgrades can be purchased via our order form, before the closure date, subject to the following:
As always, orders can also be placed with our resellers, Polyhderon, QT Software and Computer Transition Systems. Technical SupportTechnical support, covering old and current versions, will continue to be available via email up to the closure date. Support arrangements for the non-commercial successor version will be posted on the new site. However, support will not be available for old versions.
